Make Old Fashioned Toys at Huntley
(Ages 4 and up) 11 am to noon.
Make simple toys to take home and play games like those enjoyed by the children who once lived at Historic Huntley. Special children's house tour and scavenger hunt included.
Hot Cocoa Wetland Night Hike
(Ages 6 and up) 5 to 6:30 pm.
Sip hot cocoa and join a naturalist for a special wetland tour after dark to celebrate World Wetlands Day. We look for signs and listen for sounds of beavers, owls, deer and other nocturnal winter animals. Children must be accompanied by registered adult. Canceled in case of inclement weather.
Snowflakes & Cocoa
(Ages 3 to 12) Noon - 1:00 pm.
Float into our magical world of snowflakes. We learn why snowflakes are special through activities and stories. Make your own paper and borax snowflakes to bring home while you enjoy a cup of hot cocoa!
Magic of Dragonflies
(Adults) 2:30 - 4:00 pm.
Brighten up your winter and get a jump start on your dragonfly and damselfly identification skills. Eearn about the rich diversity and dynamic life cycle of these fascinating fliers that visit Huntley during the warmer months.
( Ages 6 and up) 5:15 to 6:45 pm.
Discover the secret world of owls. Learn what makes these raptors excellent night predators with a presentation followed by a trail hike to hopefully hear or spot one of Huntley's resident owls. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
The Art of the Book: Paper
(12 and up) Noon - 1:00 pm.
In honor of Huntley residents who loved both books and art, we offer a set of classes that introduce different aspects of the art of book making. Calligrapher Mary Teichman says that 'calligraphy is a great antidote to modern life.' Explore the art of beautiful writing with a variety of pens and brushes. These classes may be taken alone or in combination
Nature Drawing
(13 and up) 4:00 - 4:55 pm. (4 classes)

These wild members of the dog family are a common sight in our neighborhoods. Learn about their lives through activities, and practice yipping like a fox. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
(Adults) 8 to 11 am.
Learn about winter birds in the park plus some basic identification skills. Program ends with an indoor discussion.
Animal Pajama Party
(Ages 3 to 7), 7 to 8 PM.
Put on your pajamas and come to the nature center to hear bedtime stories, meet animals and wish goodnight to the center's live animals. Bring your favorite stuffed animal with you. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Live Owl Prowl
(Adults) Noon - 1 pm.
Meet live owls up close as we soar into their fascinating lives. What are great horned owls, barred owls, barn owls and eastern screech owls doing year-round? Follow them through courtship, nesting, raising young, fledging and finally dispersal of the young to their own territories. Speakers from Secret Garden Birds and Bees Wildlife Education and Preservation will bring live birds to the program.
(Adults) 5:30 to 7 pm
Take an evening stroll through the forest to one of the park's largest meadows. We'll listen for the call of the male woodcock and hopefully see his amazing courtship dance and flight. Bring a flashlight. Approximately 1.5 mile walk on uneven terrain. Canceled if rain.
