Friends of Huntley Meadows Park

The Friends of Huntley Meadows Park (FOHMP) was founded in 1985 as a 501( c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and supporting the park's mission of natural resources conservation, education and stewardship. FOHMP provides financial support for a variety of activities including educational programs, internships, and sponsors special events like Wetlands Awareness Day. We also support resource management projects, volunteer development, and staff and volunteer training.

Recent projects include the funding of two Natural Resource Summer Internships, a significant financial contribution to the construction of an outdoor classroom, and multiple advocacy efforts for the park and the protection of its natural resources in these challenging fiscal times.

Membership benefits include a quarterly newsletter, discounts on FOHMP merchandise, invitations to special members-only events, the opportunity to vote annually for the FOHMP Board of Directors, and to join with our voice as an advocate for Huntley Meadows Park, for more parks and green spaces more generally which in turn support healthy communities for all of us to enjoy.

As development in our area increases and the neighborhoods surrounding and nearby Huntley Meadows Park change to accommodate this development, there will be increasing pressure on the park. FOHMP intends to continue to work hard to protect this beautiful natural area from being impacted by this development. As the park approaches its 50th birthday in 2025, your voice as an advocate of the park is more important than ever to ensure this park and its natural resources are here for 40 more years and beyond.

Whether you are a regular visitor, only make it here a couple of times a year, or perhaps you visited and were impacted in years past by the natural beauty that is Huntley Meadows Park. We know how valuable the time spent at Huntley Meadows Park means to our visitors. Please join us in supporting the preservation, protection and conservation of all that is Huntley Meadows Park
